Our Lady of Lourdes
School, as all other schools in the Diocese of Metuchen, adopts the core
curriculum of the State of New Jersey. We take this curriculum and teach it
through the lenses of our Catholic faith and values. We are a K-8 system of
schools and strive to provide a rich and challenging program for all our
students. We honor the students' diversity of styles through the use of a
variety of teaching styles, strategies, and materials. The integration of all of
the arts of language - reading, writing, listening, and speaking, permeates all
of our content areas. We use the tools of technology to enhance and enrich our
curriculum. We also view music, art, physical education, and world languages as
basic areas of study.
The school has a well-equipped and Internet-safe computer lab that is continually being updated. In addition to our lab, our classrooms provide computers, laptops and SMARTBoards with applications that enhance daily learning and the support of class projects.
Our Lady of Lourdes School was accredited by the Middle States Association for the first time in April 1955. In 2005, we were granted another Certificate of Accreditation, which confirms the quality of education administered to the students, and that the school complies with standards established by the Commission of Elementary Schools. As a school, we continually update our goals and expand the curriculum with new ideas hoping to instill a love of learning in our students.
As a Catholic School, we promote and foster a dialogue, arising from God's love and the trusting response of persons in faith under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As the educators, we help the students to discover, grow and mature in faith experiences and to grow in deeper relationship with Christ and the Church.
