Mr. Bill Volpe from the New Jersey Lighthouse Society came to speak to the fourth grade on Tuesday, June 1. Mr. Volpe is the Vice President of the Society. He was assisted by Mr. Gleason, who helped Mr. Volpe present his collection of lighthouse statues, maps, and photographs. Mr. Volpe described the different lighthouses and explained how lenses capture light. He also told some stories about heroes who helped preserve the lighthouses. The fourth grade would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Volpe and Mr. Gleason for enriching their Social Studies curriculum.
