Want
to play a game?
Try one
of our Social Studies games based on the American Revolution. To
complete a year full of studying, the students were asked to construct
board games based on all areas that were studied. They had to research
various types of games. Students had to design their own boxes to hold
their games as well as their boards. Organization and creativity were
the main components for this project. Directions had to be well written
and easy to understand. Student questions were based on the last 6
chapters that were studied on the American Revolution. Challenging
questions as well as “Do” cards were part of their games. The fifth
grade spent the afternoon not only presenting their games but also
playing them. Some of us won money, while others won stars.
We had fun playing the following games: The Battle of Trenton, The
Colonial Times, SS Monopoly, Save Bunker Hill, Escape From Britain, SS
Land, The Life of a Colonist, The Big World Before Us, and Stars and
Stripes.
