Parents, First Holy Communion: This year is very important because your child will receive two Sacraments: Reconciliation and Holy Communion. I will inform you about any forthcoming events connected with them. Writing: In the Second Grade children write a lot. Students have homework Monday through Thursday. They copy their homework assignments into their agenda book. Please check every day to make sure that your child completes the homework listed for that day. Each week children write about one of the three journal topics. It is a free writing exercise and it is supposed to be at least five sentences long. The Journal is due on Wednesdays. In October, students will begin writing book reports every Friday. The assignment should be completed and returned on Tuesdays. Children can use books from our class library or from the school library. Any book that is damaged or lost must be replaced or paid for. Every week your child has a spelling test, so please practice the words with him/her during the week. Be sure also that your child has three notebooks with lines: two for Language Arts and one for Journal. Behavior: The monthly calendar is for your information about major events and your child's behavior during school time. Please check your child's calendar every day.
